As one of the greatest leaders in American history, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. lived a life of service, tirelessly giving his time and talent to make the world better. Since it was first declared a federal holiday in 1983, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has honored the life and legacy of Dr. King and inspired people to give back through public service.

These grants fund quick-action projects that help communities become more livable by improving public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, and more.
We know how impactful $1,000 can be. This is our way of extending some seed money to get these projects off the ground. 2025 application deadlines coming soon.

AARP Wisconsin conveyed a message to legislators at budget hearings this spring: The state could save money and help more older people live at home by investing moderate amounts in services for the aging and support for family caregivers. The idea is to reduce reliance on more expensive programs, such as Medicaid-funded nursing home care.
