These grants fund quick-action projects that help communities become more livable by improving public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, and more.

The Social Security Administration was founded in 1935 to secure American’s economic health. Its goal is to help retired workers pay for the necessary expenses they may come across in their post-work lives. In the 87 years that Social Security has been established, it has remained strong. A proposal from Bike Fitchburg, Inc. to designate a new “Fitchburg Greenway System” has been selected to receive a AARP Wisconsin “Small Dollar, Big Impact” grant. Fitchburg has a network of over 36 miles of multi-use paths for all ages and abilities. However, there has been no prior effort to document and promote this network as an active transportation system.
